Dental Implants in Ottawa
If you are considering replacing your missing tooth, our Ottawa dentist may be able to assist you with all your dental implant needs.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant acts as an anchor for a replacement tooth. A crown is attached to the screw-like apparatus which is surgically placed inside your jaw.
When your bone is healthy enough after the placement, we should be able to put a permanent crown over the implant which completes the restoration process.
Who would consider dental implants?
Not everyone is a candidate for implants. Patients must have enough bone to support the dental implant. However, if your dentist suggests dental implants as part of your treatment plan, you may decide to choose that option if you are looking for a solution to a missing tooth.
How long is the implant procedure in Ottawa?
The implant procedure itself, to put a single implant into the bone, takes about 30 minutes. However, there is preparation involved, so please set aside 1 hour for the appointment.
Your dentist will apply anesthetic before starting the procedure. The implant is then placed into the jawbone, and an x-ray will be taken afterwards to confirm the position of the implant.
